Tell me a little about yourself?

My name is Shannon Cannon.  I’m recently married. My husband and I own a cleaning company called Simply Spotless,  and I have been doing hair professionally and loving it for 5 years.

Tell us about your wedding.

Chris and I got married at the Basque center.  It was a simple wedding.  We decided to forgo decorations to have a band, The Dakota Mad Band.  Robin Drake from Euphoria did my Nails, and Kaylin Stogdill at NuVo did my hair. Food was catered by Mac Daddy BBQ. We also had an awesome photographer, Joncee May.    

Briefly describe your experience with Photography by Joncee May.

It was amazing.  She came up with pictures I absolutely LOVE.  I asked for candid photos and she provided great photos of every person at the wedding.  She even got one of my Dad smiling, and that never happens!

Tell us a story from one of your most memorable weddings.

My wedding is my most memorable!  :)  So much work goes into a wedding.  Fortunately, both Chris and I have amazing family and friends.  It turned out to be one of the best days of my life.  I even got to do hair! 

Why do you like doing hair for weddings?

It’s an opportunity to make someone feel beautiful.  It is really fun to share a portion of an exciting day.  When you look good you feel good.  I love giving that to brides.

What inspires you?

Walking around town and seeing the creativity people use from there makeup, clothing and hair choices, I also get inspiration from nature.

Tell us a little about the work that goes into preparing a bride for her big day?

I want to understand the bride’s style.  I prefer the client to bring pictures or ideas.  I like to know if she is open to changes to her ideas.  Also, if you want to where your hair long, please plan ahead and get regular trims throughout the year.  :)

Have any planning tips for a bride?

Have fun with it!  Don’t over complicate your vision.  Enjoy every moment.    

Why is Idaho a great place to get married?

There are many options for outdoor and indoor weddings and lots of venues to fit many budgets.  You can have weddings all year long the scenery is beautiful! 
What should a bride look for in a Hairdresser?

Someone who will listen to what you want and understand the style you are wanting.  Someone who will take the time to get your hair right for your big day!

Do you provide other services besides Hair?

I don’t myself, but the wonderful ladies at Euphoria can help you out with makeup and nails.

Do you prefer the Bride to come to you in the Salon, or to go to the Bride, and why?

I don’t mind either one.  There are pluses and minuses to both.  Think about where you will be most comfortable, and tink about timing.  Is your hairdresser just doing your hair or the bridesmaids and you mom’s as well?  Also think about budget, most people charge a traveling fee.

How long do you recommend the Bride shedule for Hair on the big day?

On average 1 hour to an hour and a half for the bride.  After your trial run (usually a month before your wedding) we can know more mater of fact how long it will take.

What is your Favorite Wedding day hair style?

I like to work with the Brides natural texture and keeps it free flowing, so you can boogie on the dance floor without working about it falling out.

Can you work the Veil or their special Hair accessories (such as flowers) into the Hair design?

Absolutely!  They add a nice touch especially to an updo, some people even chose to wear a veil during the ceremony and switch to other accessories for the reception.  It helps to bring your veil or accessory to the trial run so we can get everything just right!  :)

Do you recommend a trial run, and if so, how far in advance should the trial run take place?

YES! One month before the wedding!!!! 

What has been your proudest moment so far?

I had a first time client come in who was happy about her current hair.  She had not had her hair done professionally for about a year.   She gave me the freedom to do whatever I thought looked best.  She left very happy and looked 10 years younger.  Now she is a regular client.

 
What is the Best marriage/relationship advice you have been given?

Don’t be afraid to say you are sorry, or admit you are wrong. 

Anything else brides should know?

Don’t forget to eat breakfast and have some water on hand.

First we stopped at a little grassy field on the way up to Table Rock.  When I asked Heather how Chase proposed, she told me that he had her daughter bring her the ring box… I thought that was so cute so I wanted to incorporate that into the photos.   

Isn’t she cute?  And its no wonder, her mom is drop dead gorgeous!  :)  One thing I LOVE about this couple is they have fun together.  Look at them.  

Then we headed up to Table Rock.  Table Rock is a great place for photos, but is not an overshot location like some places in Boise.  I love that there are some structures with graffiti and textures there, but there is also AWESOME views and scenery.  It is a great place for a photo shoot.  Just look at these photos and see for your self.   

Next, one of my favorite series of photos.  I could not have asked for better light, or a better couple to make this amazing spot work.  (oh, by the way…this really pushed me, because I am VERY afraid of heights).

It was a little windy and cold, so after we got back to our cars we headed to coffee.  :)  I grabbed this quick shot of the daughter and her little pooh bear that she takes everywhere with her.

As we walked around I was some cute little families.  I can not wait to take my son there!  ;)  The Botanical Gardens are filled with lots of gazebos, swings and all things you would want to find in a garden.  We put some of those things to good use.

They also had burn buckets to help people keep warm.  We stopped to warm our hands more than once!  ;)  

And of corse, being a garden there had to be some flowers lit up too!  :)  

If you have not gone to the Winter Glow…GO!  It is awesome!  They have so many things to see.

Then we went to play in the snow!

Jillian had given me some photo ideas that she liked, and this hear in the snow was one of them. I love it when my clients have an idea of what they want!  ;)  This turned out harder than we thought!  The First heart we made was too big, then the second hear we made was to small!  ;)  And I tried to climb an ice covered fence to get above them enough to get the heart, but I think we finally pulled it off!  :)

Colin is in the Air Force, so when we saw this spot, all of us knew it was perfect!

Then it was time for some sledding!  

And a pretty sunset!  

We almost had two sessions because the location change was pretty drastic, and we had some time we had to waste in between, so I am going to do two blogs!  Come back tomorrow for more of Jillian and Colin!  :)

Everywhere you looked there were orchids!

The second clue I was at a cool wedding was the awesome cake topper!  

The Third clue was the music…There was this cool man singing live music that was awesome!   Then the wedding began…and I was right!!!!  The Wedding was RAD, as was the couple!!!  

Jacki and Toby~  I wish you many years of happiness.  I know by the way you were looking at each other, that you bring joy to the others life!  :)  that is a great thing to have, and Im sure it will grow as your lives together grow also!  :)  Thanks for letting me be a part of your beautiful day!

ANd one more awesome thing about this wedding…the little dog came out and wanted to be a part of the festivities…He sat down right on the runner!  How cute is that!?

I Started the day by meeting Liz and her mom and sister at the Grove hotel.  The girls had already gotten their hair done, but they had yet to dress.  I love pretty dresses in a window!  

Lis had this cool purse that she carried.  It was her Grandmothers, how cool is that!

After we were all ready to go, we headed to Kathyrn Albertson park, where the wedding took place.  Liz rode in a Limo from Diamond Limousine.  The Limo was awesome!  I went and got anthony, then he got liz out of the limo and got to see his Bride for the first time on their big day!!!

Liz was great at staying cool calm and collected!  She did not freak out about anything and stayed calm even when some lipstick got on her dress (which I quickly got off for her with a washcloth!) Even thought she was calm, I could tell as soon as she saw Anthony she was relaxed!  They fit together perfectly!  :)

When I had met with Liz’s mom before the ceramony, she told me about Liz’s grandpa.  He is geting old, and they asked to make sure I got some good photos of him.  As the lood little Boise wedding Photographer I am, I made sure to take some extra photos of Liz with her grandpa.  

The ceremony was beautiful, and was another great ceremony by Cody Stauffer, the best Idaho wedding Officiant!

At the end of the ceremony they released some butterflies!

After the ceremony we headed to the reception…but first we stopped to take a photo of Liz and Anthony next to the A and L of Kathryn Albertsons entrance.

The reception took place at the Bardenay and was decorated beautifully!

I personally liked the guestbook, designed by yours truly!

The cake was done by Peace of Cake and was gorgeous!

At the reception, we enjoyed some great food some laughs, some tears and some dancing…and I must say, this group of people knew how to party!  Check out this dancing collage I made! And they dances the night away!

Liz and Anthony~

I love you guys!  I am so honored to be a part of your wedding celebrations!  You did it!  The wedding was beautiful and the party was great!  Im excited to see your relationship grow and blossom even more than it has since I first met you.  I know you will have many years of happiness!  I hope you always look at each other with as much love an passion as you do now, and I hope Anthony never stops giving liz kisses on the forehead!  You guys rock!!!

I loved this wedding!!!  As a Boise wedding photographer, I have seen a few weddings in my time.  This one was different, and not just in a good way, but in a GREAT way.  The boys were looking good in the early morning light, and their awesome hats!  

Then the girls arrived…looking equally awesome in their aqua dresses.  The icing on the cake, however, was the brides dress!!!  GORGEOUS and UNIQUE!  It fit perfectly with the boys hats, and spoke volumes about the Bride and Groom.  

When you put the whole party together you had a pretty awesome group of individuals!  They looked great!

But Jenni and Steven were the stars of the show,,and rightly so!  I love to see my couples in Love…and there was now doubt about it…Steven and Jenni liked eachother!  :)

The wedding took place in Municipal park…which is a very popular park for joggers…who knew?  It was also a very popular park for squirrels.  This little guy started to make some friends during the ceremony.

The Ceremony was beautiful, and Cody, the wedding officiant was awesome.

I know you will be happy for years to come!   I still cant believe you planned the whole thing form Texas!!!  :)  It is little moments that I love to see and capture that make me know you two are perfect for each other.  Moments like the toasts, and the way Steven looks at you and the way you both obviously care for one another.  This is what makes your wedding so beautiful, and will continue to make your marriage blessed!   Thanks so much for allowing me to be a part of your wedding day.  I loved getting to know you and getting to share in such a special occasion.  I will have the rest of your photos done soon!  Enjoy the preview!  ;)

Gail has two adorable girls, who were helping model the flowers while mom was getting ready!

The bride and groom opted to do a first look and take the family photos before the wedding.

Then after one of the shortest, sweetest, ceremonies known to man we also had some photos done of just the Newly husband and wife.

Then the party begun!  The DJ was great!  He was from Almost Famous Entertainment and I would recommend him for any wedding or office party!  ;)  The first dance was filled with emotion.

Then everyone started to dance!  I love this shot of mom and daughter!  :)

Just before we left we did some sunset photos.  They turned out great!

We decided to do a “urban” session.  We walked around Boise, and enjoyed all the town has to offer.  

They taught me something new…The Linen Building has a Sunday art market…you can guarantee I will be stopping by there on an upcoming Sunday!  :)  The Building is also decorated with some cool graffiti in the back!  

Want to know something crazy?!?  These two lovebirds use to live in Billings Montana, a place I have spent some time as well!  ;)

Anthony really wanted Liz to be serious and not smile…Liz Loves life, so this was a hard feat.  This is the best “not smiling” photo we got!  :)

My favorite photo…I love the passion that this shows, Anthony really likes Liz!  :)  Not only did I like this photos but so did the people driving by that were watching us!  ;)   

The wedding is not in Idaho, so you may not see this lovely couple again, but I defiantly would not mind photographing such easy subjects again!  I had a lot of fun with them!  ;)
