This is the second half of the Frosts photos shoot.  Marsha had her brother in town visiting!  So they got some family photos taken too!  And I am glad they did!  They are such an adorable little family!  This family shoot was taken in Kathryn Albertson park.  I love Kathryn because there are so many great locations to take great photos…water features, birds, flowers, grass…you name it its there!  ;)

I love the baby…she was a walking machine and full of laughs and smiles!  :)

And big sister was enjoying life and loving every minute of it!  ;)

Seriously, this family is picture perfect!  Im glad they came along!!!

The Frost Family

July 14, 2010

I recently photographed the Frost family. They were the 100th fan on my facebook page and won a free session! ;)  I LOVE this family!  I was so excited when Marsha won, because I happened to know her and her lovely husband from college.  Now they have a cute little boy and let me tell you, the little boy is about a year younger than my son, and is a ball of energy.  We decided to do the photos at Kathryn Albertson Park.  When the Frosts arrived, the baby was sleeping, but as soon as he heard the sound of water he woke up!

Anyone that knows much about toddlers knows that if they wake up before they are ready…it is a TRAGEDY!!!  They will be grumpy, they will cry, and they will be stubborn and want their way!  ;)   I know my son is like this!!!  I have been mad several times at my dog for waking up Elijah during a nap.  Marsha and Mike handled it like a pair of pros!  Even though the little man was a little grouchy, we cod some great photos of him, picking flowers, running, and just being a boy!

And even though alot of the family photos with all three of them had an escapee like this: We figured out a way to get some family photos with them all it it!  :)  We just had to tie the little guy down on daddys shoulders!

Mike and Marsha~ Thanks for letting me take your photos and for being awesome patient parents!  It was a lot of fun!  I love the little guy’s personality and excitement for life!  Im excited to get our boys together and watch them play!  I hope you enjoy the photos!  :)  It was great to meet and photograph your extended family as well!  :)  I’ll make a separate post about them later!  ;)

And just because I know my days have felt a little crazy lately, I will leave you all with this!  IT IS OK TO CRY…sometimes!  ;)

Happy Earth day Everyone!  To celebrate earth day E-man and I rode our bikes to the park and met Paula and her two babies there.  Paula’s older son, Marty, is around E-mans age, so they played and got good and tired, then we headed back to Paula’s house for a newborn shoot.  Her in a car, and me on my bike (good thing they do not live far!)

When he got to her house, the boys were asleep, so we took some great pictures, unfortunately, my son did not sleep long.  Now I know why I don’t take him with me on photo shoots!!!  As much as I love him, he was making things very difficult!  He made a huge mess of Paula’s living room while I, as she so lovingly put it, “played Barbie” with her little girl.  Don’t worry, I cleaned up the mess…because, and this is an important lesson for Earth Day, “You should always leave things as you found them.”

And now…I give you…Baby Madeline!

Dad is a hard worker, so we are going to get some family pictures for them, with little Marty too, later.  Right now they are trying to move, geting ready to travel and expecting Family from out of town to visit.  All with a new born baby!  Paula sure is brave!  :)

J and J baby bump!

March 20, 2009

J and J are excitedly awaiting the birth of their first son!  These two are fun people that will make excellent parents!  I am excited to see the little one, cuz I am sure he will be adorable.  I mean look at the parents, how can he not be cute!?!

Due to rainy weather all day, we decided to stay inside.  I’m pretty sure the neighbors were wondering what the heck was going on as I walked into the house with rolls of fabric and lights and …

Not to mention that my dog was with me.  (He goes everywhere with me and sits in the car while I do my thing, then we go to the park or walk or something to praise him for his excellent behavior!)  They also have a dog, that looks very similar to mine, so we decided to let them play.  Did I mention that it had been raining all day?  Needless to say, the day resulted in muddy paws, a tired photographer, curious neighbors, and EXCELLENT PHOTOGRAPHS!  :-)

Enjoy!

Handpainting photographs

This may date me a little…but when I first started out in photography, digital cameras were  just a very cool concept.  As they slowly made their depute, they were crazy expensive, but soon became the norm, and film has almost became a lost art.  This both saddens me and brings me joy.  I have many fond memories of the darkroom, and nothing beats watching the image appear before your eyes.  The darkroom is truly a whole other art.  If you worked with film much you know that not only do you have to be a wiz at photography, ie fstop, aperture etc. but also at the processing in the darkroom.  When I got my first digital camera, I was ecstatic, but a little leery.  Now I don’t know what I would do without it!!!  The convenience of being able to look and see if  i got the image, or if you are squinting is amazing!  And, though I still tip my hat to the darkroom talents of film, photoshop also requires a bit of talent!

I remember processing film, then getting out the paints, and painstakingly trying to match the colors and shadows and hi-lights correctly in order to get images like the following.  Though it still requires a steady hand, Zoom is amazing, and the time to achieve striking images tike the following is cut in half, easily.   Ok, I will stop babbleing about boring tecnical stuff and show you the pictures. After all, that is why you are here, right!?
