I love my job!

May 10, 2010

I love creating memories and getting to play with fun props!  I also love getting to meet  the people I work with and having them trust me to be creative!  :)  The MacKonkeys are doing the “Growing Bump” series that include 7 mini sessions and one hour session recording the growth of your growing belly from month to month!  There are a million sights that tell you the size of your baby according to friut, We decided to use the fruit in the pictures to represent the babies size.

This is so much fun!  I LOVE MY JOB!!!!!

Maternity Casting Call

April 19, 2010

Its that time of year!  Not only are all the flowers coming up and the bees pollenating, but people are starting to have babies!  Does it seem like everyone you know is expecting or trying to have a child?  Well, if you are pregnant or know someone who is let me take the maternity and newborn photos.  I want to build my portfolio in this area, so I would be willing to take the photos for free for the first 2 people to contact me and then I will do a discounted rate of 30% off the package prices after that.

You must book both a maternity and new born session.  You must be willing to sign a model release form.  Sessions are shot on location only.  Call or text 208.724.0371 for more information.  I look forward to working with all you expecting mothers!  ;)

We are Family

April 6, 2010

Sometimes when I was fighting with my brothers or sisters my mom would say “They are the only family you have got!” For most of us, that is true. We only have one family so we should try to get along with them. Some of us, however, are lucky enough to have two families. One of those people is Becca. Becca was adopted when she was 3 days old. The family she was adopted into family is a great family, and her sister is one of my best friends! recently, she had the opportunity to spend time with her other family. Her biological family. As it turns out, I know her biological family too!

We headed to Veterans Memorial Park in Boise Idaho to take some family photos. The family was fun, and I think they turned out great.

Grace wants to be a photographer too! I think it is great to know what you want to do at a young age. She will probably be taking better pictures than me by the time she is my age!

Michel is a senior. He has eaten my Dads “breakfast pizza” and his “Breakfast burritos” [which are really the same thing presented on different forms of carbs! :) ] as well as other random things my dad has cooked for the mens breakfast at his church in Montana.

Overall, it was a fun time! Im glad they got to come to Boise to visit, and that they let me be their family photographer for the day! ;)

The Kirks Family photo session

February 16, 2010

Yesterday I went to go take photos of my friend from college and her growing family.  Emily chose to go to a playground, which was a great Idea and got awesome photos!

Amos is working in Alaska and was home for a three week break, so I offered to take their family photos while he was in town.  The day was perfect!  A little overcast, but still just enough light peeking through  the clouds.

We made shure baby and daddy got some time together…

Then, of course mommy and baby got a turn!

Then we headed back to the Kirks house to get some great pictures of daddy’s cool Dodge truck!

Thanks Kirk family!  it was allot of fun!!!!  I hope you like your photos, and I am glad that Amos got to come home!  ;)

Jessa turns two!

January 17, 2010

Guess who turned two!  JESSA!!!  You may remember this cutie from their family shoot.  Well, today we made the drive to Payette Idaho to celebrate a special girls birthday!  There was cake, there was ice cream, there were balloons, there were games, and there were friends.  Jessa had a great turnout to her 2nd birthday.   She laughed and clapped as we all sang happy birthday, and blew out her candles!

I love this moment I captured between Jessa and her mom…

Jessa is a great girl in so many ways.  At two years old she smiled and said “thank you” to each person as she opened the gift from them.  That is until she got her very own laptop!

Cody, Lisa, and Jessa~ Thanks for hanging out with us and letting us tag along with your family!  I loved meeting your nieces, sisters and parents.  All the children in your family are so cute!  It was great to see you all too.  The age of two is fun, and Jessa is precious!  you are both doing a great job with her!  We are excited for you to come over for the LOST party!  Are you all caught up yet??

A one year celebration!

January 5, 2010

Kenneth and Audri MacConkey loved their family photos so much that they decided to schedule a session for just the two of them.  Actually, Kenneth did all the planning as a surprise to his wife for their one year wedding anniversary!  We had plans to do an engagement style photo shoot downtown at sunset, but because it was a surprise to Audri, we had some scheduling conflicts.  Needless to say, by the time they got the kids to the baby sitter, and we met up, we had not choice but to shoot in the dark!  I had never shot in the dark before, so this was a fun challenge for me!  I learned alot, and hope to do it again sometime!

It was freezing outside, so we spent some time in a parking garage.  This parking garage had lots of different colors to work with!

We also traveled down Freak alley, which was a little creepy, because I have always been told to stay out of dark alleys.  We even saw a guy tagging!

Audri had t he idea to sit on park benches and read the paper!  It turned out very cute, and ended with a kiss!  ;)

As we were walking back to the car we found an interesting corner of a building, so decided to use it for more kissing!  I told them to hold it, and after I got the shot they teased that it was to longest kiss they ever had!  ;)

KENNETH AND AUDRI~

Happy one year of marriage!  You two are awesome!  I know there will be many more years to come!

I had the privilege of spending some time with Sara and Chris, my last family portraits of the year.  Chris is a very handsome young man that makes taking photos easy!  When I first got there I was introduced to the kitties.

This little cutie did not have a name yet.  They had just gotten it that day.  In order to make Chris feel more comfortable I let him show me the kitties and let him try to take a picture or two.  We made a deal…I would take 5 pictures of him and the kitty and them he had to take a picture with his mom…

The plan seemed to work, and as soon as he felt comfortable with me, he turned in to a great subject!  As a Boise family photographer, I realize it is really important to get the child to trust you and feel comfortable in order to get great photos.

After a couple formal indoor shots we went out side, and that is where the real fun began!

what is better than a slide???  Swinging with mommy of corse!  :)

Then mommy helped me sit him in a tree to get some great portraits of Chris alone.

And last but not least…we chased some ducks!

Sara and Chris~ I really enjoyed getting to know you.  You are a great little family, and I am excited to photograph you again in 2010!  Merry Christmas!

I love getting referrals from people! This lovely family was referred to me by Liz and Anthony.  Thanks Guys, your referral present is on the way!  :)

When Audri contacted me to do a family portrait session and we decided on the date, I thought, “It’s going to be cold then.”  I, however, never knew how cold it was going to be.  Growing up in Montana, I have experienced some cold winters, but this one really caught me off guard.  With a 70% chance of snow the day of the photo shoot, I was a little worried…But I could not have asked for better lighting, and no snowflakes!  ;)  The family chose the location of the “Biggest manmade waterfall in southern Idaho” located in the Quail Ridge subdivision.

We started off the photos session with this cutie.MacConkey-1, boise family photographerIt was really funny because he would not stop smiling.  I was asking him questions so he would loosen up, but he would not move, not even his mouth.  He held that smile like he was on a mission!  :)  I think he might have gotten some coaching form mom!  :)

It did not take long until I got him to relax a little and soon were getting shots like this:MacConkey-2-3, boise family photographer

Next we moved on to the baby…she was adorable.  She was waving at me as I was taking her photo.  I love this age.  I really think that aside from newborns (10 days old or less) the 8-10 month range is the next best time to get photos taken.  I mean just look at her…sitting on her own, and full of personality! MacConkey-4, boise family photographer

The family was doing one of my mini holiday sessions for the canned food.  I dont know how they will chose only 5 photos with this precious girl around!  MacConkey-5, boise family photographer

If that doesn’t make you smile and go “awww” this sibling love will!MacConkey-8, boise family photographerI love how she is making a face like, “Please brother, you are embarrassing me!”  SO CUTE!

We could not leave mom and dad out.  Often times when I ask a couple to take a photo of just he two of them they are shocked and say, “We have not had just the 2 of us professionally photographed since our wedding!”   I bet if you ask these two they will say the same!  Well, I say enough of that, show me the love of a lasting marriage!  That is defiantly something to celebrate!  It helps when the parents have a look that will pierce the camera with awesomeness.  Seriously, I think Tyra Banks would call this your “fierce” look.    MacConkey-6, boise family photographer

And last, but not least, a family photo…MacConkey-7, boise family photographer

Thanks for letting me take your photos and for braving the cold!  It was fun!  Im excited to take some racecar photos soon!

Cousins!

December 3, 2009

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!  I know I did!  My family went to Redmond Oregon to visit my husbands family.  It was really fun.  I got to see my nephew for the first time!  We had some delicious food and got some R and R!  Overall it was great!  While the Turkey was in the oven roasting away for all the meat eaters, we went downtown Redmond to take a group photo.tday-1-2Believe me, It is not easy to take a photo of yourself in a group!  We had our cameras sitting on a picnic table and used a combination of the self-timer and the remote.  One of Seth’s sisters could not make it…KELLY WE LOVE YOU!  I thought about photoshopping her in…but decided not to.

[As you may notice, our dog, Edgar, is missing form the picture.  He stayed home and had fun with his new friend Gracie!  I think he may have taught her some bad habits...he opened the gate and they both escaped!  ;)   Both are fine now, but leave it to my dog to cause some drama, he always has to be the life of the party, even when he is not there!]

After the group photo we took the boys to a park to try to get some cousin photos! They found dirt to play in…Boys will be Boys!tday-2 tday-1

They climbed trees…[ok...we may have helped them a little]tday-5
