Love at the Idaho Botanical Gardens

Recently I got to go to the Idaho Botanical Gardens in Boise to take some photos of a friend from college and hoer husband. They have been married for about a year now and never got there wedding photos. Though these are not quite wedding photos, there are definitively something they can put on the wall! :) I know this Boise Photographer will be hanging some of these in her soon to be studio. a Beautiful Engagement

Recently I got to go to Sun Valley to take soem engagement photos! It was a blast! this couple is amazing and I cant wait for their wedding. Kathleen is a fun girl that has a great smile and an awesome heart. Mihai is a awesome guy that has a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh. Together these two are dynamite! They are a amazing couple that I was lucky enough to spend the afternoon with. Laughs were had, pictures were taken, and I also had one of the most amazing beet salads and tomato bisque ever!!! :) Kathleen and Mihai told me that they always try to take jumping photos, so expect to see fun jumping photos in their wedding outfits! The next photo was taken on a golf corse, while people where hitting balls toward us and groundskeepers looked on wondering if we were lost. :) Theses two know how to have fun…everything is an adventure with them…just my type of people! :)
We found a cute little bridge on the path, so we took time to get our feet wet ! :) Of coarse, if you are in Sun Valley it is hard to get bad photos…the scenery there is breathtaking…and can be romantic.For those of you who dont know, Sun Valley is big on skiing, so we headed to the resort. I wish you two many years of happiness together. I cant wait for your wedding! Thanks for showing me Sun Valley. :)

This is Christie, Christie Grove.

She is one of my best friends from collage. Christie is a caring, nice person, who is VERY smart and always willing to entertain me with her crazy stories! ;) I love Christie! One thing about Christie that i love is that she has always been alittle shy around the boys…She has told me that she thinks kissing is gross…even though I was kissing my own husband Though I always wanted Christie to find love…I was skeptical, I mean if she thinks kissing is gross…you get my drift.

Meet Sam:

Sam is a teacher and an inspiring author. He is a funny, yet gentle person who knows how to have fun, and approaches life with optimism and enthusiasm. He likes to kiss girls, namely one girl…Christie! :)

CHRISTIE KISSED A BOY! ;) AND she LIKES it!!! ;) I am so glad she does…I could not have picked a better person for Christie! I seriously Love this couple! Sam chose to propose by starting a journal for the two of them. the ring was in the journal.

I am so glad you and Christie found each other! I love seeing Christie so happy and in love. I have known Christie for quite some time now, and I have never seen her so happy or full of life as she is with you. Thanks for being awesome and loving my friend. I cant wait to get to know you more as your life with Christie continues. I know your marriage will be blessed, I can see it by the way you look at each other and communicate with one another. You are getting married!!!!! I am SOOOO happy for you. I am so glad that you have not only found love, but love with an awesome man! :) You deserve it! :) I Love watching the two of you together and seeing how much he loves you and makes you happy. The journey of marriage is a fun and exciting one. It can be hard at times, but it is worth it. I know you and Sam will have a great life together and I cant wait to see you two grow old together. Love is in the Air – Another Boise Engagement session

I am so blessed by my Clients! I love it when I get to met awesome people, epecially creative ones. THis session was no exception. I had asked the couple to find a place to take photos for their engagement session. After discussing their style we decided to go somewhere that is not offten used in photos, but would provide a outdoorsy backdrop with a little bit of an urban flare. so off we went to Eagle Island Park. It was Awesome! I had never been to the park, but I was not disappointed…It was perfect! :)

We found some old cattle shoots so I had them pose inside and took a picture form the outside looking in…love it! ;)

The couple also brought their dog for a few photos…this dog is HUGE, a dane/ mastiff mix…but sweet as can be!

We ended the session in front of an old barn…

Then things started to get goofy! :) We decided to try the spiderman kiss from the rafters!

And then pose like some great american paintings…can you guess what this is?

And we ended with a chain link fence.

I am so excited for your wedding! you guys are awesome and I really enjoyed getting to know you! I hope you enjoy your preview.

A family engagement session

This last weekend I had the privilege of taking some awesome engagement photos. The engaged couple decided to make the engagement session a family affair, and it could not have been more fun. We headed to Kathryn Albertson Park and could not have asked for a better day. After a week of rain we were blessed with great sunshine, Sunshine that helped me create awesome images like this:

And this (got to love some sun-flare):

I decided to bring some balloons to this engagement shoot to add a little interest (and keep the kids entertained while I was taking photos of mom and dad) We got some awesome close ups of mom and dad holding the balloons.

I love getting casual shots of families, this family had the great idea to play ring-around-the-rosie. I took the photos from two different angles. First I took them while standing on a bench so it was looking slightly down at them, then I curled up and laid down inside the circle and took some of them looking up. Here are the results:

I know so far I have shown you mostly photos of the happy couple, but fear not, we defiantly got plenty of family photos too.

Can I just say that this couple makes me so happy! I am so glad that they are getting married because I can tell that they really love each other! After an outfit change, we went to the Boise Train Depot where the couple first got engaged! ;) Unfortunately all the water features were under construction, but we still got some awesome photos! :)

Thanks for spending the day with me. I loved getting to know your family and I cant wait until your wedding! Each of your kids are amazing, and your love for each other is an inspiration to see! :) Enjoy your preview.

My First Op love session

Recently I got to do some op love sessions. Here are some photos form my fist one. This is a sweet family that has been serving our country in several branches of the Military for generations. Dad is getting deployed, so we wanted to make some memories for him to have while he was gone. We started out doing some casual lifestyle shots to allow the cute little girl to warm up to me and then moved into some more formal ones!

Twinkling Lights – Jillian and Colin part two

Ok, here is part two from Jillian and Colin’s session. After a quick coffee break to warm up (they had sat in the snow, and I had laid down in it…it was cold!) we headed to the Winter Glow at the Botanical Gardens. I love the botanical gardens, but to see it light up like that was simply magical! The lights were awesome.

As we walked around I was some cute little families. I can not wait to take my son there! ;) The Botanical Gardens are filled with lots of gazebos, swings and all things you would want to find in a garden. We put some of those things to good use.

They also had burn buckets to help people keep warm. We stopped to warm our hands more than once! ;)

And of corse, being a garden there had to be some flowers lit up too! :)

If you have not gone to the Winter Glow…GO! It is awesome! They have so many things to see.

Snowflakes of Love – Boise Photographer

This is a session I have been looking forward to for a while. Jillian contacted me from FLORIDA and told me that she was flying in to town to visit her boyfriend and wanted to get some photos. As we talked more She said she wanted to get her photos in the snow! I knew right away that this would be a fun couple! First we went for a drive to find some good lighting…

Then we went to play in the snow!

Jillian had given me some photo ideas that she liked, and this hear in the snow was one of them. I love it when my clients have an idea of what they want! ;) This turned out harder than we thought! The First heart we made was too big, then the second hear we made was to small! ;) And I tried to climb an ice covered fence to get above them enough to get the heart, but I think we finally pulled it off! :)

Colin is in the Air Force, so when we saw this spot, all of us knew it was perfect!

Then it was time for some sledding!

And a pretty sunset!

We almost had two sessions because the location change was pretty drastic, and we had some time we had to waste in between, so I am going to do two blogs! Come back tomorrow for more of Jillian and Colin! :)

Ben, Melissa, and Mia

I love Ben! I have known him for awhile now. He is a Chef at Kyoto Japanese Restaurant. I have watched him go through allot of ups and downs through out the time I have known him. As I was shooting his family portraits I could tell he was happy! And that made me happy! He has met a great woman who really loves him, and has the joy of watching a adorable little girl grow up! :) They make a really cute family!!!

Seriously, could this girl get any cuter…I LOVED taking her photo!!!

She was quite the little explorer! she loved looking at everything, and at Kathryn Alberson Park there is a lot to look at, but also a lot of great photo opportunities!

Ben and Melissa recently got engaged so we took a few photos of just the two of them too!

A one year celebration!

Kenneth and Audri MacConkey loved their family photos so much that they decided to schedule a session for just the two of them. Actually, Kenneth did all the planning as a surprise to his wife for their one year wedding anniversary! We had plans to do an engagement style photo shoot downtown at sunset, but because it was a surprise to Audri, we had some scheduling conflicts. Needless to say, by the time they got the kids to the baby sitter, and we met up, we had not choice but to shoot in the dark! I had never shot in the dark before, so this was a fun challenge for me! I learned alot, and hope to do it again sometime!

It was freezing outside, so we spent some time in a parking garage. This parking garage had lots of different colors to work with!

We also traveled down Freak alley, which was a little creepy, because I have always been told to stay out of dark alleys. We even saw a guy tagging!

Audri had t he idea to sit on park benches and read the paper! It turned out very cute, and ended with a kiss! ;)

As we were walking back to the car we found an interesting corner of a building, so decided to use it for more kissing! I told them to hold it, and after I got the shot they teased that it was to longest kiss they ever had! ;)
